Console

UNIGINE console is used for standard input, output and error streams for the file loading, rendering system, audio and video systems, path-finding system, physics engine, file system and many others.

Can be opened in any UNIGINE-based application.

How to Open Console#

A built-in console is called by pressing the grave accent (`) key, placed under the ESC key:

Console Operation#

Console operation can be either command or variable:

  • Command is a directive to a console to perform a specific task.
  • Variable is an identifier that contains some stored value.

Command Syntax#

Console command can take null, one or several arguments. The syntax is:

2 - Custom culling mode. Culling is performed using an oval or circular mesh determined by custom adjustable parameters.
render_stereo_hidden_area_transform
  • Variable. Print the value indicating the current culling mode for pixels that are not visible in VR.
  • Command. Set Size (X, Y) and offset (Z, W) along the X and Y axes respectively for a custom oval or circular mesh used for culling pixels, that are not visible in VR (requires render_stereo_hidden_area = 2).

render_stereo_reprojection
  • Variable. Print the value indicating the current stereo reprojection rendering mode for VR.
  • Command. Set the stereo reprojection rendering mode for VR (allows to render 45 FPS as 90 FPS).
    Notice
    Reprojection does not give an x2 performance gain as there are a lot of other things to be rendered in addition to the ones rendered per-eye (such as shadow maps etc.). Moreover, in case of a CPU bottleneck, reprojection won't give any gain at all.

    It is recommended to enable stereo reprojection in the following cases:

    • you have a stable 70-80 fps and just need some extra boost to get to 90
    • you have a fluctuating fps (like 90, then 45, and 90 again), in this case reprojection will help you to get stable 90

    In case if your initial fps is below 45, reprojection will half the framerate, and you'll end up having a completely messed up image. In this case reprojection should be disabled.

  • Variable. Print the value indicating if improved blur reduction is enabled for buffers (SSAO, SSR, etc.) during stereo reprojection.

  • Variable. Print the threshold value used for stereo reprojection, when the fast mode (render_stereo_reprojection = 2) is used.

    • Higher values reduce clipping of frontal parts of moving objects, but make the ghost effect more pronounced.

Renderers#

  • 1 to write all DirectX errors (red) and warnings (yellow). If the error occurred, it means that there is a mistake in API.
  • 2 to write all DirectX errors (red) and warnings (yellow). If the error occurred, the engine will crash and the full callstack will be shown.
OpenGL:
