Guest shane.ploenges
When importing an FBX file there are no textures present and a simple Mesh_Base shader applied. If i select the import materials check box the importer asks to supply an autodesk .mat file - However the 3ds max FBX exporter does not create such a file on exporting. Is it possible to have materials on imported FBX files, or do we still need to setup unigine materials once the FBX is imported? I have tried with embed media both ticked and unticked in the FBX export process. Thanks in advance. Link to comment
manguste
Shane, Did you check the documentation on the FBX plugin? This plugin does import textures and does create materials. A *.mat file is simply a UNIGINE material library to save a created material into (you cannot have a material without a library, right?). Link to comment
demostenes
To be honest, I was confused too, when importer asked me to provide autodesk .mat file. I think it would be good idea to reformulate this sentence to something like "specify target mat library.... " Link to comment
