Texture with specular map question

is it possible to have a texture with a specular with only the specular parts having an environment for the reflections?

All I seem able to achieve is to have specular bits without an environment map or the whole object receives the environment map while i want it to be only on the specular bits

I'm sorry but I really cannot get what you want. Can you be more specific and, better still, show a screenshot?

 

I'm not sure what you mean by an environment map, but reflections and specular go together (modulated by one texture) since the same physical reason is underneath them.
