demostenes
I import fbx file, in this case animation (but it does not really matter what kind of object it is). It takes up to 1 minute. I decide to change some import setting. Again one minute (SSD drive, 16GB of memory, core i7...). Why is it taking so long? It looks like engine is doing recheck of whole project (esq project), is this really necessary? Btw, changing up/front axis during import has no effect for animations. Bug? Nothing important anyway. test10_RunFwd.fbx Edited October 8, 2018 by demostenes Link to comment
silent
Hi Jirka, In empty project FBX from attachment is imported in a second. I've also tested it in ESQ project (with 50k files) and get a slowdown to 3-5 seconds for reimport (i5 / SSD), can't reproduce 1 minute delay. Nevertheless, filesystem behavior inside Editor2 will be improved in 2.8 and it will make reimport as fast as in empty project. Validation speed also will improve (25-30 sec -> 20 sec). Quote Btw, changing up/front axis during import has no effect for animations. Bug? Nothing important anyway. Yes, this is known issue for now. Hope to get rid of it soon. Thanks! demostenes
Ok, thanks. Anyway this behavious is quite wierd. Some of our team members have much faster editor start than other ones, even if they have weaker PC. So far we didnt find any pattern why. It even changes on the same HW. Once it starts 20 seconds, second time 2 minutes....validation is quite fast always, but it takes lots of time until it starts to validate. I start editor, it does not respond and after 5-80 seconds it starts to validate. Edited October 9, 2018 by demostenes Link to comment
