t.coursey Posted August 27, 2018 Posted August 27, 2018 Is there a way in Unigine to have a light emit and affect the diffuse but not the specular? It's a technique I used in our other software that allowed us to add some kind of fill lights. It could brighten an area up but not have a LIGHT visible on the specular, giving the fake away. If this isn't possible I would like to see it added to lights properties...ie. Affect Specular Affect Diffuse Thoughts?
morbid Posted August 28, 2018 Posted August 28, 2018 Hello Trey, Specular workflow is kept in Unigine as a legacy. Are you sure this is the way you want to set up your materials? Anyway, our render design wouldn't allow implementing such kind of hack as "Affect Specular", sorry. A proper way for eliminating this glare is switching to an environment and voxel probes. In 2.7.2 we suggested combining of voxel and environment probes for better reflections and lighting. Thank you! How to submit a good bug report --- FTP server for test scenes and user uploads: ftp://files.unigine.com user: upload password: 6xYkd6vLYWjpW6SN

Thank you! Ah yes I guess I didn't mean Specular as a workflow, I'm using Metalness worlflow. But my mind still thinks of those glares as Specular reflection. Yes it would be a HACK, so if that's not possible no big. Wanting light on the diffuse without it reflecting in surfaces will not be helped by Environment map or Voxel volume I don't think. Thanks for the info!
