demostenes Posted February 1, 2016 Share Posted February 1, 2016 Currently layer textures (materials) are blending into coarse diffuse texture even at quite big distance. I see this blending happening even several kilometres away and usually I see tiling of layer textures (it is almost impossible to prepare texture which will not tile at big distance). I can add addional child layer texture to get rid of tiling (so long distance view is OK), but it causes loosing of detail from very close distance (quite bad for FPS/3rd person view). It would be nice to have this blending distance under control (distance, treshold...), in my use case I would switch to coarse diffuse texture at much closer distance (several hundred of meters), so I could get rid of some antitiling materials/layers, have better visual quality (high res coarse diffuse texture will always look better than layer materials, I can cheat little bit with it and add more details, which cant be seen from close distance) and probably gain some performance.
