WorldTransformBone jitter problems

We have been building a train system

It uses a base ObjectMeshSkinned which contains token geometry and about 20 bones.

We then use WorldTransformBone objects to attach carriages, people, doors etc.

This set up works quite well until we place a second train in the scene at which point objects that are attached to the bones start to jitter slightly ocasionally (as if they were not updated in that frame).

From 2 trains up to 11 there is no noticeable worsening of the situation.

If we drop the number of bones per train from 20 down to 3 we still have a problem with 2 trains.

 

Any clues as to what may be causing this?
