I already discovered situation, where this can be really handy: http://img545.imageshack.us/img545/2653/iceir.jpg Diffuse texture with tiling 1, its color is used for faking depth. Normal map with tiling 22 to give ice necessary detail. I dont have any other idea, how to do this without using ultra high-res texture (now I have 128*128 diffuse and 512*512 normal, so it is very cheap). Link to comment
