AngusWood Posted February 16 Posted February 16 Hi. Are there any cross-platform benchmarks available. We'd really like to move from Windows to Linux but are worried about committing if we end up with poor performance. We're deliberately rate-limited to 60FPS on a world that runs at about 125FPS uncapped. In other words if we can still make 60 we'd be happy. This may be hard to answer, I appreciate.
silent Posted February 19 Posted February 19 OpenGL is indeed much slower in terms of performance (both CPU and GPU). I think the framerate drop may vary between 20% and 40%. It's hard to say what level of performance you will get in your exact project when you will use Linux+OpenGL, only real world tests will show the actual numbers. AngusWood Posted February 20 Author Posted February 20 Cheers, and I understand it's a movable feast. We'll try things out.
