Can I blur the edges of the details layer?

I wanna smooth out the white areas edge.

Or is it possible to assign a mask only to a specific area based on height, not color?

If you are using Mask by albedo - no. However, you can prepare your masks in third party software and blur them as you want. And you also can control border with threshold, width and contrast sliders.

Yes, it should be possible. You need to tune Visible Height parameter and set desired height values when mask should be displayed.
