Editor suggestions

Hello,

A few editor suggestions:

  • when multiple nodes are selected, the 'F' key focus all the selection. Could you add a key to iterate the focus between each selected nodes individually (Shift-F maybe?)
    • Rational: sometime, a small object can be hard to pick from the surroundings. By iterating in all selection, we could more easily pick it up when it get focused.
  • Add a key to 'isolate' the selected nodes (ie. temporarily hide everything but the selected ones), like the '/' key in Blender. Pressing the key again should restore the previous view state.
    • Rational: in crowded scene, it can be hard  to see an object from all angles without hiding first everything else
  • the grid_for_world_creation material would be more useful as-is if the uv mapping was set as TriPlanar,
    • Rational: it could be used even on nodes without UV/bad UV. This is the first step I do on every IG test scene I create: create a large ground plane and apply this material, then again on some dummy walls/cubes around to aid as markers.

Thanks!

Hi Stephane,

1 & 3 looks like easy to add, but implement isolated (2) view is a bit harder due to hierarchy and that fact that you will hide all the lightning and stuff.

Thanks for the feedback!

Hi,

For 2/, the goal is NOT to actually deactivate nodes (as it would also put a cascade of deactivation for children, and as you noted have some issue with lighting) but just not to render them in the viewport (so, maybe actually it only makes sense just for meshes and cluster/clutter?) . Well, you got the rational :)

Thanks for your consideration!
