What factors determine the pivot position of the top node(dummy node) when importing an FBX?

The top node shown in the photo was not in the Max model.

The root node may be added on different stages:

  1. FBX Export from 3ds Max. In that case pivot position is calculated somehow by 3ds Max - you can experiment with different export options to see the difference.
  2. Import. The behavior itself is controlled by FBX SDK. We are setting SetRotationPivotAsCenterRecursive mode.

Please, keep in mind that you can see the actual pivot location only when you switch selection mode to Local -> Pivot: https://developer.unigine.com/en/docs/2.10/editor2/select_position_nodes/#pivot_point
