werner.poetzelberger Posted March 27, 2019 Posted March 27, 2019 I have troubles with the landscape tool. It throws messages which does not fit. I dont hav a RBG8 file loaded, but a R16F as height map. Why is that??? The Landscape tool interface is a bit unintuitive ..... sry to say that, but it costs a lot of nerves....
morbid Posted March 27, 2019 Posted March 27, 2019 Hi Werner, Have you imported your texture into Asset Browser? If so, please check the "Unchanged" option and reimport. Then try again to add it as a source file in the Landscape Tool. If this doesn't help, please, send us this file. Thanks. werner.poetzelberger Posted March 27, 2019 Author Posted March 27, 2019 No, I didnt. It acually 'reloads' the texture as soon I save it from Photoshop. Let me check that option. I cant get around some issues with that tool. It crashes when I try to generate an image preview. Sometimes it creates an Albedo preview from the heightmap. Then it seems to create a Terrain, but its not visible in the Editor. Grrrr..... ;) But I am not giving up.
werner.poetzelberger Posted March 27, 2019 Author Posted March 27, 2019 The Unchanged is checked. So weird the messages I get are not matching the files. ....
morbid Posted March 27, 2019 Posted March 27, 2019 All the mentioned things are really strange. I'd be happy to get more info on this. It'll be easier to help you if we've had images you're using. UPD Have you checked our video tutorials and add-ons? https://developer.unigine.com/en/docs/2.7.3/videotutorials/essentials/lt_georeferencedhttps://developer.unigine.com/en/docs/2.7.3/videotutorials/essentials/lt_arbitrary Thanks. werner.poetzelberger Posted March 27, 2019 Author Posted March 27, 2019 Yes, i looked at all the tutorial videos and addons. Funny enough, I could make it work, but not it doesnt. Somehow inconsistent....
morbid Posted March 27, 2019 Posted March 27, 2019 Werner, I still only can guess what exactly is going wrong here. May I ask you to attach the dds file you're using? werner.poetzelberger Posted March 27, 2019 Author Posted March 27, 2019 Very weird. I have not eve assigned the Albedo, but I get this error message. If I delete the Albedo file from the browser, the gerenator at least is doing something.
werner.poetzelberger Posted March 27, 2019 Author Posted March 27, 2019 (edited) When I place the source file out of the 'data' structure, then it works. The exact same file. That is pretty weird..... The other day, I kept the sources in the 'data' structure and it worked ..... Seems, that some modification of the file or file info happens as soon as I place the file in the structure. Even if I have the Unchanged option ON. Edited March 27, 2019 by werner.poetzelberger
morbid Posted March 27, 2019 Posted March 27, 2019 Just now, werner.poetzelberger said: When I place the source file out of the 'data' structure, then it works. That what I asked you in the first place. When you import a texture into asset browser it being compressed. Landscape can't work with compressed files. You can keep the sources outside of data directory, I think that's the easiest way. Thanks. werner.poetzelberger Posted March 27, 2019 Author Posted March 27, 2019 (edited) Yes, but If I Check the UNCHANGED state, then it should be unchanged?? I didnt import it via the asset browser, I just copiied into the folder in the Windows explorer. But I guess thats the same. Edited March 27, 2019 by werner.poetzelberger
morbid Posted March 27, 2019 Posted March 27, 2019 Yes, that's the same. I'll check later behaviour with different dds files. How to submit a good bug report --- FTP server for test scenes and user uploads: ftp://files.unigine.com user: upload password: 6xYkd6vLYWjpW6SN
werner.poetzelberger Posted March 27, 2019 Author Posted March 27, 2019 No, it doesnt work. Same error. I just did it again, like before, same error as placing the images in the 'data' structure. ........................ headbanging

When there are 2 image files in the same folder, then this error occurs. When I place the files in separate folder, then it works! Probably that makes sense if you have a lot of files, they will be separated in different folders anyway I guess. So. If that is consistent .... I will keep on going... I am a marathon man !!!! hehe. morbid Posted April 4, 2019 Posted April 4, 2019 Hi, sorry for late reply. My guess is that you haven't changed tileset rule when imported dds files. If you're using single images it's better to delete indexes in their names or just wipe out Expression value in the Add source window. Otherwise, landscape will try to load different types of files as a solid tileset. This is why it worked when you've separated files. Thanks. werner.poetzelberger Posted April 5, 2019 Author Posted April 5, 2019 Ahhhhhh. Thats a good hint. Thank you for looking into that! Because I tried to give the file names like the expression, even when there is just a single one. All right. I will try this. Just as I mentioned several times, that the interface is a bit simple. Some things could improve the work(flow) and probably as well avoid these issues. Best. Werner

We're in process of major changes in the landscape-like objects, more likely tool will be updated in the nearest future. Thanks.
