Amerio.Stephane Posted January 7, 2019 Posted January 7, 2019 Hello, In 2.7.3 you changed the "default" orientation at import. I modeled a basic "3 axis" reference object (attached) in Blender and exported it as FBX with Blender export settings set as "FBX Unit scale, Forward = +Y; Up = +Z", which is the same new default settings as 2.7.3 When importing this fbx into Unigine, the object rotation is 0,0,0 but the mesh has been rotated 180 around Z. Blender axis.zip Is it the expected behavior? If I change the import setting to "Front axis=-Y", then the object orientation looks correct, but it makes me feel like the logic is reversed. What am I missing?
silent Posted January 9, 2019 Posted January 9, 2019 Hi Amerio, We are using FBX SDK 2019 to import FBX files. It reports us that your attached model has Z - up, -Y - front axes. FBX Review app that we sometimes using to verify some FBX files also shows us identical picture: So, everything is working as it should be for the attached FBX file. Thanks! Amerio.Stephane Posted January 9, 2019 Author Posted January 9, 2019 Ok, I may be misusing "front facing" and "forward", I'll just "recalibrate" myself ;-) Thanks !
silent Posted March 25, 2019 Posted March 25, 2019 osa 3Ds Max front axis is Negative Y, so you need to place your ship accordingly (just rotate it 180 degrees and reset transforms). Export settings is OK (Z-up is correct). UNIGINE uses +Y as forward direction. Thanks!
