josh.trevisiol
Hello, I'm looking for recommendations on data sources that I can use to generate procedural buildings with geo-referenced landscapes. I'll be trimming the data using GlobalMapper. Currently I have been testing with Geofabrik.de OpenStreetMaps for my sample data, but it does not seem to include a lot of residential areas. If you think there is a data source that might include more residential zones, I'd love to hear about it. Thank you! Edited November 9, 2018 by josh.trevisiol tags Link to comment
morbid
Hi Josh, the shortest way to get .shp for buildings generation is to download an open street map file: https://www.openstreetmap.org/#map=3/69.62/-74.90 Then you can save it as a shapefile in QGis or preferred editor and edit values. Usually, they do not have data for floors number, so you'll have to add it manually.
