Editing objects placed by vector data

Is it possible to delete buildings, roads, and other objects placed by vector data?  We're working with a historical time period and will need to ensure that some modern-day roads and city expansions don't make it into our final product.  Being unable to do so would mean that we'd have to edit the shape files - not the end of the world, but something important for us to know from a workflow perspective.

Also, we plan to use actual geometry for buildings and place them via points.  Not sure if that makes a difference.

Thanks!

Yes, it is possible for objects that were placed as individual nodes. You can achieve this by using points or vector options in Landscape tool. Roads are usually generated as spline object and for now, you can't modify it in-editor.

You also can use 2.5D Buildings feature, but deleting or modifying of generated geometry will be possible only in 3rd-party software, like 3DS Max or Maya. You just can export FBX file and do whatever you want with it :)

I guess it's better to modify roads in .shp file. I guess changing attributes will be enough. Depending on the amount of building you want to create it also could be easier to prepare shapefile.

Please, keep in mind that positioning by point has an important limitation: you can't set node orientation, so all objects will be placed in one direction. For instance, all buildings will be aligned uniformly. However, you can use lines in shapefile, please check the article on point objects: https://developer.unigine.com/en/docs/2.7.1/editor2/landscape_tool/generate_point

Probably, 2.5D buildings could be a good start for your project since you can generate the basic boxes and then manually modify them (if you need a high level of details).

I'd like to note that an enormous number of unique materials and meshes can significantly impact overall performance.

Thank you!
