[WONTFIX] Multi/sub material export from max is broken?

Recommended Posts

Today i try to export a mesh with multi/sub material from max. I found in the engine it's always only one surface and the name is the same as the mesh name.

here is my step:

1:create a teapot in max

2:create a multi/sub material with 3 sub materials, each one is a standard material

3: assign this material to the teapot.

4: assign different mat id on the teapot.

5: export to mesh.

add the teapot to the engine, in the surfaces list only one "Teapot001" listed

Hi,

Yes, this is known issue and we are working on it.

One option you can try (if you are not using 2013/2014 3ds max) - to use old 3ds Max plugins (you can find it in attachment).

Sorry for the inconvenience caused.

hi silent:

Could you try this and see if this is a bug (with the old plugin)

1:create a box and a sphere

2: assign box as Mat ID 1 and sphere as Mat ID 2

3: create a multisub material and set 2 sub materials

4: assign this material to both

5: export the box and sphere.

problem: the box and sphere has the wrong surface name , suppose to use the sub material name?

  • 1 year later...

When will you solve this issue? I'm using 3D Studio Max 2011 64 Bit Edition, when I'm using multimaterial I'm slicing the model for each of muterial or texture set than re edit in unigine editor. It takes too much time for our completed other project models when we're jumping to unigine. Rebuilding 10 multimaterialed vehicles, buildings, terrains or other things are very difficult (takes too much time). It's very urgent for our projects.
