Master+slave Low framerate if out of focus

Hello,

We have a mid-spec PC that should run both the master and slave of an IG. It's not really high spec so the low framerate overall is expected. The issue is: the window that doesn't have the focus run at a very low fps, while the other has a the expected fps.  If we focus the other window, then the fps perf is switched. If none has the focus, then they both have the same low fps.

What is going on?

(Not a bug report, just trying to understand, and then decide if we can have this configuration).

Thanks!

Hi Stephane,

Generally speaking you can't expect any kind of stable behavior when running multiple engine instances on the same weak PC. The main culprit here is the core / threads occupation and if you have weak CPU multiple processes (including OS and GPU driver) will compete for the CPU power causing random threads to start and stop continuously.

nVidia GPU driver can be very CPU-instensive (even for a single 3D application running), so running multiple apps at once will also increase the CPU workload. The same goes with the PCI-E lane and VRAM.

You can try to play with CPU Affinity options, maybe it will somehow improve the behavior, but from our experince it somehow works only on high-end CPUs.

Thanks!
