werner.poetzelberger
I discovered 'cut out' artefacts, which occur on the Global Water Planar reflection.(the bright outline). changing quality improves it a it, but it doesnt disappear. Using a 4K buffer helps, but pushes down performance a lot. I would rather use the backbuffer size or even half. thx. W. Edited December 13, 2019 by werner.poetzelberger Link to comment
morbid
Hello Werner, You can try combining planar reflections with Water SSR, but some artifacts still may occur. If this wouldn't work I suggest keeping planar reflections only. Water is a complicated objects and realistic reflections on its surface are not easily done. We'll investigate possible improvements after 2.10 release. Your test scene will be really helpful for experimentation and render debug. UPD I couldn't get the exact effect, just something similar. The test scene is really appreciated. Thanks. werner.poetzelberger
Hey Morbid. yes, I have figured out, that the combination can disguise the artefacts a bit. I made a simple scene with water and objects, and I get the same artefacts. Especially, when you choose a lower resolution for the plane reflection plane. I will try to get u a scene, cant tell ETA, but the testsscene is basically a reference. I think it is a AA issue? best.w. Link to comment
morbid
Werner, may I ask you to give me water material and render settings files? Thanks. werner.poetzelberger
attached the files. The testscene is the scene with the cubes. The other files from the previous scene. btw. I experienced, that the Water Field switches always to ADDITIVE when restarting the editor. (I set it to MULTIPLY). GIAFScene.zip testscene.zip Link to comment
