Hi Kyle,

You can enable SSRTGI (as Bake lightning dialog is suggesting) to improve baking quality. We are working on lightmapper solution that will improve baking quality even more (more likely it will be added next year with 2.11 SDK update).

If this doesn't help, please, send us your model - we can see what else we can suggest.

Thanks!

Hi Kyle,

Thanks for the test scene. Voxel probe is baking only bounces (not a direct lightning) - that's the main current limitation that prevents you to get the desired picture quality.

Also to bake lightning only from HDRI texture voxel probe resolution more likely will be not enough. Lightmap and the second UV channel is still required for that kind of task (lightmap baker hopefully will be added after 2.10 SDK update).

So right now the approach would be the following:

  • reduce voxel size as much as possible (to get the resolution as much as possible)
  • enable SSRTGI and Bent Normal in settings

This will result in longer baking times and higher VRAM consumption. However, to get the same picture quality a lightmaps required.

Thanks!
