[SOLVED] Terrain height editing is sluggish in 2.6.1.1

photo

Recommended Posts

We have been having trouble with the performance of terrain height editing when using Editor 1 and Unigine 2.6.1.1. There is a noticeable delay (at least a second, but sometimes more) before you can see the result of any brushwork. This doesn't seem to be present in 2.6.0, in which the result of applying the brush is visible in real-time.

There doesn't appear to be any relevant change in the UnigineScript for Editor 1, so we're guessing that the problem has been introduced in the binaries. This was supported by reverting them back to 2.6.0, after which the issue disappeared, but this isn't the ideal solution for us as we'd really like to stay on 2.6.1.1 if possible.

(As an aside, we attempted to use Editor 2, but after a bit of searching through the UI, followed by checking these forums, we discovered that height editing is yet to be implemented there.)

Awesome, thanks for looking into this!

We're using Sim for Windows, but (to makes things complicated) we're using a patch that silent supplied to us for a different issue (see below).

Hello, Simon!

Please check personal messages. I've sent you a link for updated binaries.

Don't worry about previous patch, conent is included.
Just copy & replace attached files in your SDK folder.

After everything is done type in console the following:

render_manager_resource_update 0

This will fix terrain brush behaviour.

We've applied the fixes, and can confirm that the issue appears to be resolved! Yay!

We'll keep an eye on things for the next couple of days, and will let you know if any issues are encountered.
