andrew.tan
Hi all, I am interested to know how to import 3DS. Will the material be attached automatically. My background is in Neoaxis. Unigine is very powerful and we are trying to switch over. Thanks, Andrew Link to comment
silent
Hi Andrew, You can import your *.3ds files into the MeshViewer application (<SDK>/bin/ResourceEditor) and export geometry into a *.mesh format. Also, you can set up DIffuse / Normal / Specular / Parallax / Height textures to the desired surfaces inside the MeshViewer application and export material library by pressing Export node button (uncheck Node export to perform only material library export). Than you can import this material library into your world. After setting up the materials (path for textures, for example) you can assign them to the surfaces of your mesh. Please, keep in mind that Material and Node export path should be configured to "../data/<filename>" or similar (when pressing Export node button). Otherwise, files will be saved to the same folder where ResourceEditor binary is located (<SDK>/bin by default). Thanks!
