[SOLVED] 5.1 sounds

Hello, community!

Have somebody tried to to work with a sound format 5.1

 

data/samples/sounds/sound_static_00 work only with 2 channels (left and right)

AFAIK, the "Generic Software" device only handles stereo mixing. You'll either

need to use the Generic Hardware device, hardware drivers (if available), or

OpenAL-Soft (which can handle up to 7.1).

may be Valery and Oil Rush have custom engine build with OpenAL-Soft http://kcat.strangesoft.net/openal.html

I try to use OpenAL Soft implementation openal-soft-1.15.1 http://kcat.strangesoft.net/openal.html#download

and I get 5.1 sound from UNiGiNE.

 

also you can set sound_app to "xaudio2" to use Microsoft XAudio2 instead OpenAL

I found another solution to get the surround sound :rolleyes:

You need:

1. Creative Sound Blaster X-FI Titanium HD (last card with hardware OpenAL acceleration)

2. Logitech Speaker System Z906 (build in DTS/DD decoder)

3. Digital Optical connection + enable DTS/DD encoding

 

And you fill the difference with the free sound. (OpenAL-soft + Realtek) B)

But your must have 650-700$ for boost sound :P
